Who We Are

The role of Ontario Health is to plan, integrate and fund local health care. Ontario Health is responsible for ensuring equitable access to health care services in both official languages. It aims to support its funded health service providers in developing and implementing French Language Services plans, including strategies and objectives to improve access to services in French.

It’s really, really important that when we are providing services to an individual that we understand what it means to them based on their heritage, based on their experiences and based on their cultural interpretation.

It’s through the language that a lot of values and customs and traditions are communicated and if that is shared between a provider and a recipient, there is an automatic trust that’s built between both. The learning and the sharing and the healing process are much easier because of that commonality.
